Futurlights

Pesticide-free LED-based production of ornamental young plants to reduce climate-damaging emissions on an individual company basis

The FUTURLIGHTS project aims to develop a resource-efficient and climate-optimized cultivation system for the production of young ornamental plants in greenhouses. The goal is not only to eliminate the use of chemical pesticides, but also to significantly reduce the CO2 footprint of production. This is based on a holistic approach that integrates crop cultivation, plant protection, product development, sensor technology, automation, as well as farm consultancy and accounting. The overarching objective is to establish an economically viable system that supports the transition toward sustainable production methods – including in conventionally operated ornamental plant farms.
